| We encourage people to show their support of an issue or cause by wearing ribbons. We also encourage people to USE their ribbons as conversation pieces. If someone askes you "why green?" Tell them you support organ donation. Make the issue human, tell them YOUR story. A portion of the profits from the sales of this line go to nonprofits. This is a NEW line, if you have any sites we should put on here, or organizations you feel we should support, please contact us. Thank you. |

| Children's Organ Transplant Association Click Here to Donate for Myka Glennie The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) exists to assist patients who require a life-saving organ, bone marrow, cord blood or stem cell transplant. They work with any patient who needs a transplant due to a genetic disease such as Cystic Fibrosis, and all patients 21 and younger for any disease or complication. We are asking if you make a donation, you select Myka Glennie. Myka is a 15 year old awaiting a double lung transplant. She has cystic fibrosis. Myka likes to tell people that she "flunked hospice." Patients put on hospice are usually supposed to die within six months. Myka went on hospice in May 2004 but is still here, her mother said. Nothing about Myka would make a person think she suffers from an often fatal disease. She has a healthy smile, a great sense of humor and, if it weren't for her disease, would have boundless energy. Like most teenagers she hangs out with friends, squabbles with her brother, Joseph, 12, and watches movies. When possible, Myka enjoys going out with friends from her church, but she describes leaving the house as a "big production" of oxygen canisters and tubes. Myka's mother had to quit working three years ago to take care of Myka full time and she and her husband wiped out their retirement savings to pay for Myka's treatments. The family is working with the Children's Organ Transplant Network of Bloomington, Ind., to help raise funds. COTA is a national charity dedicated to helping families and communities raise funds for transplant patients. All of the money is used for transplant-related expenses. If a patient dies, the money goes into a general fund to help the organization match funds raised by other patients, said Michelle Hartz, a COTA spokeswoman. We are asking, if you make a donation, please Select Myka Glennie from the Donor Designations. Thank you! (Information compiled from Tulsa World, 1/1/2006) |
